Mergers and acquisitions expert Anne‑Marie Panzini has joined McCarthy Tétrault’s partnership in Montréal.

She makes the jump from Stikeman Elliott, where she spent over 10 years. Her practice focuses on domestic and cross‑border M&A, private equity investments, and venture capital financings; she has tackled early‑ and growth‑stage financings, divestitures, strategic investments, and complex multi-jurisdictional deal structures.

Panzini has worked on matters in the technology, life sciences, infrastructure, and consumer‑facing sectors. Her clients have included private equity sponsors, strategic buyers and sellers, venture capital firms, emerging companies, multinational and Canadian organizations, and financial sponsors.

While at Stikeman Elliott, she recorded stints in the firm’s New York office in 2016, 2022, and 2023. She handled US and international mandates and collaborating with cross‑border teams.

“Anne‑Marie’s cross‑border experience and practical, business‑focused perspective will be a significant asset to clients navigating complex transactional opportunities,” said Matt Cumming, McCarthy Tétrault’s business law group co‑leader, in a statement.

Group co-leader Richard O’Doherty added that Panzini’s work with high‑growth companies added “valuable insight” to the firm’s national platform.

Panzini obtained her LLB from Université de Montréal and was admitted to the Québec bar in 2017. She also received degrees in economics, management, and Italian from McGill University.

She was on Stikeman Elliott’s students and stagiaires committee, which recruits future leaders and oversees the development of students and stagiaires.

Cumming and O’Doherty were announced as McCarthy Tétrault’s business law group co-leads earlier this month, succeeding Eva Bellissimo. The business law group also welcomed regulatory and Indigenous law expert Alastair MacKinnon to the practice in Calgary in December 2025.

Last month, the firm also launched MT❯Forge, a new artificial intelligence-powered division that utilizes McCarthy Tétrault’s resources to co-design services for customized, modular "work packages" aligned with specific needs, objectives, and workflows. Toronto partner Sahil Zaman was named president of the new division.
